Joyce Trus leads Racer Golf At Ole Miss Invitational

Joyce Trus of Murray State women's golf had a spot in 33rd place Friday after the first round of the Ole Miss Rebel Invitational at the Ole Miss University GC in Oxford, Miss.
Trus, who started on the back-nine, played a span of 12 holes at 2-under par and had 10 straight pars and finished with the best score of the day for MSU, a 4-over par 76, in the field of 111 competitors.

MSU's Morgan Cross played the front nine in 2-over and finished with an 80 for a spot in 71st place, while Andrea Downer was in 81st place after a first round 81. Alexandra Lennartsson carded an 83 and was in 98th place while Megan McKinney was in 102nd place after an 84.
Alexandra Hinteregger is playing the event as an individual and had an 88 for a spot in 111th place.
As a team, the Racers' 320 leaves them in last in the field of 20 teams. MSU was one shot behind 19th place Mississippi State (319) and seven from 18th place Princeton (313).
Tulane was the 18-hole leader at 290, while East Tennessee State (292), Ole Miss (294), Missouri (294) and Texas A&M (298) rounded out the top-5.
Round two begins with a shotgun at 8 a.m.
