Trus and Downer Earn All-OVC Women's Golf Honors

Murray State seniors Andrea Downer and Joyce Trus were honored Thursday as part of the All-Ohio Valley Conference Women's Golf Team at a banquet after the first round of the league tournament in Dickson, Tenn.
Trus, a senior from Mexico City, Mexico, was named to the All-OVC First Team and Downer, a senior from Surrey, England, earned second team honors.
"I am very proud of both of them, they've been a big part of our program," MSU head coach Velvet Milkman said. "Andrea and Joyce have been excellent representatives for Murray State and our program."
Joyce Trus
After transferring to MSU from Oklahoma, Trus was a solid performer in three seasons with the Racers and earned All-OVC honors in 2009 as a junior. She led the team in scoring average this season at 76.4 which ranked third in the OVC. Trus had five top-10 finishes in the 2009-10 season including three in the top-5. She also earned a spot on the All-OVC Tournament Team in 2009.
Andrea Downer
A four-year player with the Murray State program, Downer marks a fourth straight season of earning All-OVC honors. She was second on the squad in scoring average at 78.1 and shot the lowest round of the season for MSU with a 1-under 70 at the Drake Creek Invitational in Sept. Downer had four top-5 finishes this season. She was also named to the All-OVC Team in 2007 and 2008, All-OVC Tournament Team 2007 and 2009 and All-OVC Newcomer Team in 2008.
