Racers Trail By Six After OVC Golf Championship Round 2

The Murray State Racers are six shots off the lead heading into the final round of the 2010 Ohio Valley Conference Women's Golf Championship being played at GreyStone GC in Dickson, Tenn.
The Racers, who trailed Jacksonville State and Morehead State by two shots after round one, came out of the gate Friday and posted a 298. Combined with their 306 from round one, the Racers have a 604 total, six strokes behind leader JSU at 598. Morehead State was in third place at 609. The Gamecocks tallied a 294 in round two, while the Eagles had a 305.
Through 36 holes of the 54-hole event, MSU is being led by Megan McKinney who is in 3rd place in the field of 45 competitors after scores of 76-72=148. Morgan Cross and Andrea Downer are in ninth place. Cross had scores of 77-75=152, while Downer carded scores of 76-76=152. Joyce Trus was in 11th place with scores of 78-75=153. Caroline Lagerborg had 15th place with rounds of 77-78=155.
As of 4 p.m., the field of 45 players were going back out on the GreyStone course to begin the third and final round. The plan is to play nine holes as to give the event a better chance of finishing with forecasted heavy rain and severe storms coming in on Saturday.
