Jaguars Select Lane in 5th Round

A dream became a reality for Murray State defensive end Austen Lane as the All-American was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL Draft. The selection in the fifth round makes Lane the highest drafted player in the history of Racer football.
Lane was selected as the 2009 Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year after leading the league with 11 sacks and 19.5 tackles-for-loss. His performance did not go unnoticed on a national level as he was selected as an Associated Press First-Team All-America, as well as a Second-Team All-America by The Sports Network. Lane also finished sixth in the voting for the Buck Buchanan Award, honoring the top defensive player in the FCS.
The stock of Lane continued to rise as he was selected to play in the Under Armour Senior Bowl. The Iola, Wisc. did more than hold his own the practice leading up the game, before introducing himself to the national audience by recovering a fumble and returning it six yards for a touchdown in helping the North to a 31-13 victory.
Lane finished his career as MSU's all-time leader in sacks (29.0) and tackles-for-loss (53.5)
