Racer Golf Claims Championship Of Big Blue Invitational

The Murray State men's golf team posted their second win of the 2009-10 season when they scored a six-shot victory at the Big Blue Invitational hosted by Tennessee State at King's Creek GC in Spring Hill, Tenn.
The Racers put together rounds of 280-288-288=856 to hold off runner-up John A. Logan at 862.
The win is the second for MSU this season, as they also won their own MSU Invitational last Sep. and it marks the 21st for MSU head coach Eddie Hunt in nine seasons with the Racers.
MSU's Cameron Carrico and Nick Newcomb led the Racers by sharing a spot in fifth place in the field of 111 competitors. Carrico carded scores of 69-70-71=210, while Newcomb had scores of 69-72-69=210.
Patrick Newcomb placed 19th with scores of 71-74-73=218, while Jared Wolfe and Chris Griffin shared 35th place. Wolfe had scores of 71-73-78=222, with Griffin coming home in 74-73-75=222.
Dustin Gosser played the 54-hole event as an individual and finished 49th with scores of 76-73-75=224.
Tennessee State finished third in the field of 15 teams at 862, while Dayton (863), Eastern Illinois (867), SIUE (868), Evansville (873), Texas Pan American (874), Belmont (876) and Tennessee Tech (877) made up the top-10 finishers.
MSU begins play Saturday with a 36-hole day at the UK Bluegrass Invitational at the UK University Club in Lexington, Ky
