"We are fortunate to have such a supportive community which has donated several nice items for the auction," Associate Athletic Director Paul Bubb said, "From a new power engine to dinners to movie passes to fashion items and everything in-between, the response has been great for this first-time Racer auction."
The evening will begin at 5:00 p.m. with a silent auction and social hour. A buffet dinner will follow at 6:30 p.m. with a short program. The evening will conclude with a live auction featuring a wide range of items from vacation packages and getaways to unique Racer Athletic memorabilia.
What will have fans excited are the special and unique items being offered.
"Our volleyball coach and his wife, David and Kendra Schwepker, will be preparing a romantic candlelight dinner for two," Bubb explained. "Racer Head Football Coach Chris Hatcher has agreed to allow someone to be a guest coach for a road game, allowing them to attend all practices, receive official team gear, travel with the team and be on the sideline for a game."
"President Dunn will host a private dinner party at Oakhurst, Director of Athletics Allen Ward will host a group in his press box for a home football game, Racer Head Men's Basketball Coach Billy Kennedy and his wife Mary will host a BBQ dinner for 10 at their home and we have 20 game tickets and the use of the President's Suite in the RSEC for a home basketball game for a group."
There will also be some special and exclusive items available at the auction. A framed autographed front page of the Murray Ledger & Times photograph of Danero Thomas hitting the game winner against Vanderbilt as well as an autographed collage featuring OVC Men's Basketball Tournament MVP Isaah Canaan will both be up for bid. The auction will even include a section of the Racer Arena basketball court (20' x 24' free throw lane).
"The Racer Arena free throw lane is definitely unique," Bubb said. "For someone who is a diehard Racer fan, this would be the perfect floor to have in their den, family room or game room."
Additional items for auction include golf packages to several local and regional courses; vacation get-away packages to Green Turtle Bay Resort and Branson, Mo.; and tickets to concerts and sporting events.
