Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Tournament Field Set

Murray State will enter the postseason as the No. 3 seed as the field for the 2010 Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Tournament has been finalized. The tournament will be played May 26-29 (30) at Pringles Park in Jackson, Tenn., home of the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx, the Double-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners.
The Breds (25-26-1, 12-8-1 OVC) will open the tournament on Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. against No. 6 Eastern Kentucky. The two teams met three weeks ago in Murray, with the Breds coming away with a three-game sweep. The loser of the contest will return at 11 a.m. Thursday to play an elimination game. If MSU wins, they will play No. 2 seed Jacksonville State Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m.
MSU went 2-2 in the 2009 OVC Tournament held at Brooks Stadium. After falling to Tennessee Tech in their opening game, the Breds rallied for an 8-5 victory over Morehead State, and followed it up with a walk-off victory over regular-season champion Eastern Illinois. The Breds season ended with a loss to JSU in the semifinals.
