Breds Season Comes To End Against Tennessee Tech

Murray State's magical run through the 2010 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament came to an end Saturday afternoon as Tennessee Tech scored 10 runs in the fourth inning to hand the Breds a 15-6 defeat at Pringles Park.
The Breds (28-28-1) got on the board in the first inning as Brandon Elliott tucked a triple into the right-field corner and scored on Wes Cunningham's sacrifice fly to left field.
MSU got the offense going again in the third as Elliot Frey singled to left field and went to second when Zach Noonan drew a four-pitch walk. Elliott followed with his first career home run to left field. Two batters later, Bryan Propst hit a solo home run to left center.
The Golden Eagles (31-24) found their groove at the plate in the fourth as Cassanova Donaldson walked and went to third on Brandon Crossman's single to right field. Chad Hayes loaded the bases with a bunt base hit before Frankie Beech scored a run with a single up the middle. Austin Wulf plated a run with a sacrifice bunt. With two outs, A.J. Kirby-Jones drove in a run as he beat out a single deep into the hole at short. Chad Oberacker delivered an RBI single through the right side before Ben Burgess' grounder to short went through the legs of the shortstop, allowing another run to score. Donaldson followed with a run-scoring single before Crossman, Hayes and Beech each delivered RBI doubles.
TTU added a pair of runs in the seventh as Beech doubled to left field and scored on Hunter Rivers' bloop single to right. Oberacker drove in the second run with a triple to deep center field.
After Tech added three runs in the top of the eighth, Daniel Hill responded in the home-half of the inning with a solo home run to left field.
Nick Price (2-0) earned the victory after holding the Breds to just one run on three hits over the final six innings. Matt McGaha (5-3) took the loss after allowing eight runs, four earned, on 11 hits over 3.2 innings.
Elliott led the offense by going 3-for-4 with a triple, home run and three RBIs. Hill and Frey each added two hits.
