MSU Named To Central Regional of NCAA Women's Golf Championship

The Murray State Racers have been named to the NCAA Women's Golf Championship Central Regional in Bloomington, Ind., at Otter Creek GC May 6-8.
The NCAA Division I Women's Golf Committee announced the teams and individuals selected to participate in the 2010 event Monday afternoon.
The Racers head to NCAA regional play for the second straight year after winning back to back Ohio Valley Conference Championships including the 2010 OVC title April 24 in Dickson, Tenn.
"Our team is excited to be representing Murray State University and the Ohio Valley Conference," MSU head coach Velvet Milkman said. "We're looking forward to the opportunity to compete at Otter Creek and we're going to prepare this week to play our best golf of the season."
The Racers are seeded no. 22 in the field of 24 teams in their regional where Arizona State is the no. 1 seed. Other teams in the central region include: USC (2), Purdue (3), Michigan State (4) and Georgia (5). Other notables include: Louisville (10), Notre Dame (14), Ole Miss (15), Indiana (20), Illinois State (21), Detroit (23) and Jackson State (24).
A total of 369 participants have been selected for three regionals. Of these players, 126 will advance to the championships finals. Eight teams and two individuals will advance from each regional.
The championships finals are May 18-21 at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C
For the Racers, this is another chance for the team to compete at the NCAA level.
"I am really excited about our team earning the chance to do this for a second straight season," Milkman added. "Something like this doesn't come around often and I want them to soak it up, have fun and play their best."
