Newcomb Earns Pepsi Athlete Of The Week Award

Murray State golfer Nick Newcomb is the Pepsi Athlete of the Week for the period of April 26 - May 2.

Newcomb, a senior from Benton, Ky., helped the Racers win their fourth Ohio Valley Conference Men's Golf Championship April 28, their first since 1991 on the course at Greystone GC in Dickson, Tenn.

In the process, Newcomb won the medalist championship for the second time in three seasons when he fired rounds of 73-69-73=215 as his teammates Jared Wolfe and Chris Griffin finished second and third place.

After the Racers' win, Nick Newcomb was named the OVC Player of the Year and OVC Tournament MVP.

MSU, having qualified for the NCAA D-I Men's Golf Tournament will learn of their regional assignment Monday.
