Racers Compete In NCAA Women's Golf Championship - Round 2

The Murray State Racers had a rough day in round two of the NCAA Women's Golf Championship when they came home with a 347 on a day when windy conditions caused havoc on an already tough track at Otter Creek GC in Columbus, Ind.
The Racers, who advanced to the NCAA Championship for the second straight season after winning the Ohio Valley Conference title, had rounds of 336-347=683 in the first two days of the event and stand in 22nd place out of 24 teams. MSU leads Detroit-Mercy (706) and Jackson State (714) and are behind 21st place Tulsa (654).
Leading the way for the Racers was Andrea Downer who carded an 84 after a first round 81 and stood at 165 for two rounds and had a spot in 90th place in the field of 123 competitors.
Joyce Trus had an 84 to go with a first round 85 for a 169 total and a spot in 102nd place, while Morgan Cross was in 111th place after rounds of 87-88=175. Megan McKinney was in 114th place with scores of 88-90=178, while Caroline Lagerborg was in 119th place after scores of 84-100=184.
Southern California trailed Arizona State by two shots after the first round, but managed to jump into the lead with a 304 today while the Sun Devils carded a 310. With 18 holes to go on Saturday, USC leads ASU 603-607.
Oklahoma State was in third at 613, while Oregon (621), Purdue (623), New Mexico (624), Denver (313), Mississippi (626), Michigan State (626), Georgia (626), Kent State (628) and Florida State (629) made up the top-12 teams.
The final round will set the top-8 teams that will advance to the NCAA Finals, May 18-21 at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C.
The Racers will again play with Jackson State and Detroit-Mercy in the final round.
Caroline Lagerborg has MSU's first tee time at 1:25 p.m. eastern time, with Megan McKinney starting at 1:36 p.m. Morgan Cross has the 1:47 p.m. tee time, while Joyce Trus goes at 1:58 p.m. and Andrea Downer at 2:09 p.m
