Cunningham Named Louisville Slugger Third Team All-America

After putting together one of the best single-season performances in Murray State history, first baseman Wes Cunningham was honored by Collegiate Baseball Thursday, as he was named a Louisville Slugger Third-Team All-America. Cunningham joins Daniel Calhoun (2009) as the only two All-Americans in the storied history of Thoroughbred baseball that dates back to 1924.
The 2010 Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year finished the season by hitting .408 with 77 runs scored, 95 hits, 19 doubles, six triples, 22 home runs, 86 RBIs, 192 total bases and a .824 slugging percentage. He set the MSU record for runs, hits, triples, home runs, RBIs, total bases an slugging percentage, while also setting the OVC record for RBIs and total bases.
In his career, Cunningham hit .399 with 161 runs scored, 237 hits, 14 triples, 35 home runs, 169 RBIs, 406 total bases and a .684 slugging percentage. He finished his career as the school's all-time leader in batting average, hits, triples, RBIs and total bases, while ranking second in runs and fifth in home runs.
The Louisville native is expected to be taken between the 11th-20th rounds of next week's Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft (June 7-9).
