“I am very excited to add Adam and Dominique to our coaching staff,” said Severns. “Adam brings experience competing in and coaching almost every event on the track. He has also had success everywhere he has coached. He is very enthusiastic on the track and in recruiting. Dominique has experience competing at a high level at Murray State and in the OVC. She will bring knowledge of the OVC and the area that we will need to take the program to the next level.”
Kiesler will primarily work with the sprinters, hurdlers, jumpers and multi events at Murray State. His job will also include assisting with recruiting and team travel.
“I am excited to be a part of the staff at Murray State because of the energy that surrounds the athletic department,” Kiesler said. “The student-athletes here want to compete at the highest level and become successful department wide in the OVC. As a part of the track & field staff we are ready to help mold our student-athletes on and off the track.”
Kiesler comes to the Racers after spending the past season as a graduate assistant track & field coach at the University of Toledo where he oversaw student-athletes in sprints, hurdles, jumpers and multi-events. He coached three All-Mid-America Conference selections, six top-five Rocket performers, and a 2010 NCAA Regional Qualifier. His athletes also set school records in the 4x400 meter indoor relay and the 100-meter dash.
Before joining the staff at Toledo, Kiesler was an assistant women's track & field coach at Central Michigan University for two seasons. He helped produce nine CMU top-five performances, four All-MAC selections, and 1 NCAA Regional Qualifier.
While at both Toledo and CMU Kiesler also assisted with recruiting, academics and summer camps. He also spent one season as a volunteer assistant at the University of Michigan.
Kiesler was a member of the Michigan track & field teams from 2002-2007 where he competed in the long jump and multi-events.
The native of Rochester, Ill., earned a bachelor's degree in earth sciences in April of 2007 from Michigan and is currently pursuing a master's degree at Toledo. Kiesler has also earned Level One and Level Two coaching certificates from the USA Track & Field Association.
Robinson is no stranger to the Racers track & field program after spending the 2005-08 campaigns as a member of the MSU team. She left the Racers in 2008 holding the school record in the indoor weight throw (59'6.75”) and in the outdoor shot put (45'10.75”). She returns to the Racers Athletic Department as a graduate assistant that will be responsible for working with the throwers.
“As a former athlete I think it is an amazing opportunity to be able to give back to Murray State,” said Robinson. “I am happy to be a part of the rebuilding stages of this track team and I hope to be a contributing asset to the foundation and morale of the women's track & field team.”
While at MSU she was named the 2006 OVC Female Field Athlete of the Year, earned the OVC Indoor Weight Throw Title in 2007 & 2008, and placed second in the indoor shot put in 2007.
Robinson came to the Racers after helping the Virgil/Grissom High School team earn five indoor/outdoor Alabama State Championship Titles and two runner-up finishes. She was an All-Metro pick for four seasons, while also lettering in basketball as a prep.
The Huntsville, Ala., native graduated from Murray State in December 2008 with a degree in marketing. She is expected to graduate in December 2010 with a master's in business administration and will then be pursuing a second master's degree in occupational safety and health administration at MSU.
