A cool, stiff breeze through Stewart Stadium Thursday afternoon as the Murray State football team when through its afternoon practice on Day 9 of Fall Camp. The breezed helped dropped the heat index nearly 20 degrees in a matter of minutes.
“It was nice,” said head coach Chris Hatcher in talking about the windy conditions. “It has really been hot out there and our guys, I thought for the most part, did a good job of battling the heat. But, having that cool breeze come in, I think it went from 104 heat index to 88 within five minutes, and it really made a big difference throughout the course of practice. Hopefully we will get a relief as we head into the weekend.”
The Racers practice for a little over two hours as they continued to prepare for their season opener against Kent State on Sept. 2.
The team will hold a scrimmage Saturday morning at 10 a.m. inside Stewart Stadium. The scrimmage is open to the public. Also, the Racers will host “Meet the Racer Day” on Aug. 21. The event will include a Little Racers Camp and an autograph session with the 2010 Racers. Stay tuned to www. GoRacers.com for more details as they become available.
