The Murray State soccer team ended a two game season-opening road trip with its second consecutive scoreless tie Sunday afternoon against Saint Louis in St. Louis, Mo.
Before this season, the Racers (0-0-2) had never tied a match in the first two games to start a year.
"We played harder today," coach Beth Acreman said. "The players are starting to understand what we as a staff expect of them this season. I was pleased to see us fight again in the heat and get some great scoring opportunities. We will be training hard this week to get ready for our home opener Friday."
Goalkeeper Tara Isbell stopped all six shot-on-goal attempts from the Billikens (0-1-1) to keep her save percentage at a perfect 1.000 after 220 minutes.
MSU's best chance to score came in the 75th minute when Katie Wilson's shot attempt hit the crossbar and deflected over the net.
Sophie Hargreaves led the MSU offensive attack with three shots. Wilson and Rachel Wright were the only other Racers to record multiple shots with two apiece.
Saint Louis held a 14-12 shot advantage and was awarded nine corner kicks to the Racers' four, including three in under a minute toward the end of the first overtime session.
Murray State returns to Cutchin Field Aug. 27 for the opener of the Racer Classic at 2 p.m. against South Florida.
