OVC Champions Surprise Coach Eddie Hunt

Murray State men's golf coach Eddie Hunt was given a nice surprise when the seniors from the Racers' 2010 Ohio Valley Conference championship team presented him a framing of the team scorecard from MSU's big win last April, the first league title for the Racers since since 1991.

Seniors Chris Griffin, Nick Newcomb and Jared Wolfe, along with freshman Patrick Newcomb came up with the idea shortly after the Racers won the title at Greystone GC in Dixon, Tenn.

Hunt was delighted at the gesture and a special the cake that was made.

“This was really nice of the guys to give me and I thank them and their parents for such a gesture,” Hunt said. “2010 is a golf season we'll always remember and I'll always remember the student-athletes that made it happen.”

The presentation was made after the MSU men's golf annual fundraiser scramble at Miller Memorial GC.

The 2009-10 Racer golf season was special indeed, as the team won the fourth league title in program history.

All five players in the MSU starting lineup were named All-OVC and Nick Newcomb was medalist for the OVC Championship and was named player of the year.

Coach Hunt was named OVC Coach of the Year for the second time.
