Cardinal Intercollegiate Final Scores
The Murray State men's golf team finished ninth in the 16-team field at the Cardinal Intercollegiate in Louisville, Ky., at the Cardinal Club.
MSU fired rounds of 294-288-294=876 to finish ahead of 10th place Wisconsin (881) and just behind eighth place Bowling Green State (874).
The Racers were led by Cameron Carrico who finished 21st in the field of 94 players with rounds of 74-74-70=218, while William Hunt placed 32nd with scores of 74-69-77=220. His 3-under-par 69 in round two was MSU's lowest round in the 54-hole event.
Hunter Ford placed 44th with scores of 73-77-72=222, and Dustin Gosser finished 61st with scores of 79-73-75=227.
Patrick Newcomb had scores of 72-72 in the first two rounds but withdrew from the final round.
“I was a little disappointed in the first round,” MSU Head Coach Eddie Hunt said. “But we played better in the second round and the conditions in the third round were very difficult. This was a strong field and it was beneficial for us to play in an event like this.”
Miami (OH) (857) was the champion of the event, with Illinois State (860), Marshall (862), Louisville (863) and Kennesaw State (863) making up the top-5 teams.
The Racers return to action when they host the MSU Invitational at Miller Memorial GC Oct. 4-5.
