The Murray State women's cross country team picked up a eight-place finish Saturday night at the Memphis Twilight Cross Country Classic.
Katelyn Jones led the Racer charge, completing the 5k course at the Mike Rose Complex in 18:27.41 to finish 20th out of 256 participants. Asenath NaAman followed in 58th with a time of 19:10.00 with Kayla Crusham five spots behind her in 63rd, finishing in a personal-best 19:13.66. Karissa Magnuson also finished in the top 100, running the course in 19:23.67. Other Murray State entries included Bernaderre Catron in 19:57.29 (104), Bridget Stitchnot in 20:21.87 (123), Jami Kloenne in 21:07.44 (162), and Shelby Jenkins in 23:04.90 (208)
Holly Knight of Auburn won the women's event with a time of 17:05.97. Stephen F. Austin took the women's overall title, placing five runners in the top 18.
Derek Perry was the high finisher on the men's side, running the 8k course in 26:46.02 for a 114th place finish. Andy Pack (29:03.77) and Jordan Althoff (29:22.21) rounded out the men's entries. Perry and Althoff each broke their previous best time by over a minute each.
MSU returns to competition on Oct. 1 at the Tennessee Tech Invite.
