Soccer Heading to Jamaica on Mission Trip

The Murray State women's soccer team will be looking to escape the cold weather of western Kentucky as it embarks on a seven-day mission trip to the Caribbean island of Jamaica.

The Racers will be playing three matches between Jan.9-15 while in Kingston, holding games against a Jamaican select team, Barbican FC and a team of all-star players selected from club teams.

"We are excited to get the opportunity to take an international trip,” head coach Beth Acreman said. “Not only will we be playing games, but more importantly the players and staff will be helping at an orphanage for girls. We hope that these children will benefit as much from us as I know we will from helping them."

MSU will humanitarian work through Mustard Seed Community Orphanage and Maxwell Home for Girls, including conducting soccer clinics and cleaning at the orphanage.

Other sights on the trip include a visit to the Bob Marley Museum and excursions to Dunns River Falls and Ocho Rios.
