Final Results
The Murray State women's golf team won their second straight F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate championship Tuesday with a final round 291 to win by four shots over Jacksonville State at the Links at Novadel in Hopkinsville, Ky.
The Racers, who scored a tournament record 293 in round one, bested that by two shots in round two for a 584 total.
Jacksosnville State was second at 588, followed by Eastern Kentucky (599), Austin Peay (603) and Belmont (604) in the top-5. Western Kentucky (606), Tennessee Tech (614), Lipscomb (628), Evansville (635) and Tennessee State (669) rounded out the field.
Alexandra Lennartsson led the Racers with a second place finish with scores of 72-68=140. Her 68 was a career-low round at MSU.
Morgan Cross placed third in the field of 64 players with scores of 73-70=143, while Alli Weaver, Delaney Howson and Sophie Olley shared 18th place. Weaver's scores were 75-77=152, Howson carded scores of 73-79=152, while Sophie Olley scored 76-76=152.
Lennartsson and Cross each earned a spot on the all-tournament team.
“I'm very proud of the way we played the last two days especially in the face of some great competition,” MSU Head Coach Velvet Milkman said. “We played with a lot of confidence.”
The win for MSU marks their second in three fall events. They also won the Drake Creek
Invitational in Ledbetter, Ky. (Sep. 13).
MSU had three players competing as individuals led by Claudia Schwan who posted scores of 79-78=157 for a 40th place finish. Gina Nuzzo finished 58th with rounds of 90-77=167, while Madolyn Parker finished 63rd with scores of 93-93=186.
The Links at Novadel played to a par of 72 and 6,008 yards.
