MSU Golf Finishes Strong At UK Event

Final Results
The Murray State women's golf team improved each round of their appearance in the Bettie Lou Evans Fall Invitational in Lexington, Ky., including a final round 315 which helped them leap past three teams into 11th place.
MSU coupled their final round 315 with rounds of 330 and 327 for a 872 total and a spot in 11th place. MSU jumped past 12th place Mississippi State (973), Jacksonville State (976) and Akron (978) in the final 18 holes.
“I was pleased with the way we played today and it shows what our team is capable of on any given day,” MSU Head Coach Velvet Milkman said. “They weren't happy with their performance the first two days and I'm proud of our team not giving in.”
MSU's Delaney Howson led the way for MSU with a 21st place finish with scores of 83-78-76=237, while Morgan Cross came home with a spot in 36th place with rounds of 81-80-80=241. Alli Weaver placed 50th after scores of 81-88-77=246, while Alexandra Lennartsson had scores of 85-81-82=248 for a spot in 57th. Sophie Olley placed 88th with scores of 95-91-85=271.
Claudia Schwan played for MSU as an individual and placed 90th with scores of 96-96-88=280.
Host Kentucky (924) overtook Central Florida (932) in the final round to win its own event. Augusta State (940), Michigan (944), Illinois (045), Chattanooga (946), Miami (FL) (947), Kennesaw State (956), Middle Tennessee (960) and Florida Southern (961) made up the top-10 teams.
The University Club played to a par of 72 and 6,360 yards.
The Racers continue their fall schedule (Oct. 10-11) at the Austin Peay Intercollegiate played at the Links at Novadel in Hopkinsville, Ky.
