Baseball Splits Pair of Fall World Series Games Over Weekend

The Murray State baseball team continued its Fall World Series over the weekend with the two teams splitting the two games. 24 Karat Gold walked off with a 9-8 victory on Saturday, while Biscuits and Navy responded with a 5-0 victory on Sunday. The series is set to resume on Friday with 24 Karat Gold leading 2-1.

On Saturday, freshman Cameron Wallace delivered a two-run walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth to give Gold a 2-0 series lead. Wallace was not the only hitting star for Gold, as senior Travis Isaak delivered a grand slam. Junior right hander Scott Spears picked up the victory in relief.

On Sunday, right hander Cameron Finch kept the Gold bats silent as he tossed seven shutout innings to earn the victory. Taylor Matthews, Luke Daugherty and Brandon Eggenschwiler each collected two hits in the victory.

Game four of the series is set for Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. at Reagan Field. Game five will be played either Saturday or Sunday afternoon.
