Women’s Tennis at Southern Miss Halloween Classic

Murray State women's tennis freshman Carolyn Huerth went 4-0 in singles action for Racers at the Southern Miss Halloween Classic, as part of the Fall Schedule. The Prairie Grove, Ill., native also went 1-2 in doubles action during the three-day tournament.
Results
Huerth first defeated Marion Courbis from Southeastern Louisiana (8-0) in day one. During the second day she added wins over Menanteau Moolman (9-7) from UAB and Tara Vasovic (8-4) from Louisiana. Her final win came on the third day of competition, with an 8-5 win over Northwestern State's Dana Sardak.
Sophomore Carla Suga went 2-2 in singles play, while freshman Jordana Klein added a 2-3 mark and senior Ashley Pierson went 1-1. Suga defeated Southern Miss' Alex Bradley (8-6) and Northwestern State's Linda Gamo (8-1). Klein earned wins over Raphaela Lima (8-0) from Jacksonville State and Marie Aubert (2-1, retired) from Nicholls State. Pierson's win came on day one over Maribelle Seegfried (8-2) from Central Arkansas.
The doubles pair of junior Ashley Canty and senior Cassidy Cunitz went 2-0, while Huerth and Pierson picked up the other win in doubles for MSU. Canty and Cunitz earned a day-two win over Alexus Coats and Kate Lanier (8-0) from host Southern Miss and an 8-6 win over Nicholls State's Janna Leeuwerik and Andrea Pont Grau.
The Racers will wrap up the Fall Schedule by hosting the Murray State Invitational, Nov. 11-13 at Kenlake Tennis Center in Aurora, Ky.
