Newcomb Named OVC Golfer Of The Week

Murray State golfer Patrick Newcomb was named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week Wednesday as announced by the league office.
Newcomb recorded his second collegiate win when he carded rounds of 68-70-67=205 (-8) to take home individual medalist honors at the Murray State Invitational held at the Miller Memorial Golf Course. The junior from Benton, Ky., was first in a field of 75 golfers, which included five OVC schools. His final round score of 67 (-4) helped the Racers overcome a three-shot deficit to win its eighth-straight MSU Invitational, this time by five strokes.
Newcomb is the first MSU golfer to win the OVC's weekly honor this season.
His first win was in the 2010 season opener at the Wasioto Winds Fall Kick-Off.
