Murray State women's cross country concluded the 2011 season Saturday morning, running at the NCAA Southeast Regional at EP Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky.
The Racers placed 27th overall out of the 35 teams competing in the 6k race, the longest distance MSU has competed in this season, and finished five spots ahead of Morehead State, one of two other OVC schools participating in the event.
“I am happy with how the girls ran today,” head coach Jenny Severns said. “Most of them have never run in a 6k and our top five finishers all moved in to our top10 6k times. That's very exciting for the future of the team.”
Carolyne Tanui picked up her third straight leading finish for Murray State, leading the Racers with a time of 22:16.7 to place 93rd overall. She was followed by Rebecca Hbetamu in 109th who was 14 seconds back at 22:30.8. Kayla Crusham was the third MSU entry to cross the finish line, running in 23:15.2 to finish 160th. Anne Jablinski placed 165th with a time of 23:18.6 with Abbie Oliver scoring the 5th and final team scoring spot for Murray State with a 189th place finish in 23:48.2. Brittany Bohn was the 6th and final Murray State entry with a time of 24:09.0.
