Murray State Golf Signs Abbi Stamper

Murray State women's golf coach Velvet Milkman announced the signing of Abbi Stamper of Franklin County High School in
Frankfort, Ky.
Stamper will be a freshman with the Racers in the fall of 2012.
"I am very excited to have Abbi join our Racer Golf family,” Milkman said. “I anticipate her having a very successful career at Murray State. Abbi is a very talented golfer whose best golf is still ahead of her.”
Stamper had a scoring average of 77.8 as a senior in fall and earned Kentucky Region-7 Player of the Year honors. She was runner-up in the Region tournament and helped her team to the title and a trip to the Kentucky High School Athletics Association (KHSAA) State Tournament where she placed sixth with scores of 76-78.
During her senior campaign, Stamper had five top five finishes, including a win in a field of 95 players at the Fuzzy Zoeller Invitational with a score of 72. She finished third at the Franklin City Classic with score of 77 and had a fourth place showings at the Joy Invitational and Nelson County Invitational with scores of 73 and 78.
“Abbi has unlimited upside potential and comes from a high school program that knows how to win,” Milkman added. “In addition, she is a person of high character and will represent our university well both on and off the golf course. I look forward to coaching Abbi for the next four years."
Stamper is a member of National Honor Society and Youth Salute recipient. She is an active member of Franklin County High School Choir.
