Newcomb Earns OVC Golfer Of The Week Award

The Ohio Valley Conference named Murray State junior Patrick Newcomb the OVC Golfer of the Week for the second time this season on Wednesday.

Newcomb, of Benton, Ky., won the OVC honor after he placed third out of 105 golfers at the Wendy's Kiawah Classic held at the Turtle Point Golf Course in Kiawah Island, S.C.

Newcomb carded rounds of 73-68-74 to finish at 215 (-1), which was just one stroke behind the medalist. His second round score of 68 (-4) tied for the low round of the tournament. In 17 rounds during the fall season, Newcomb averaged 72.5 strokes per round, tied for 10th in the OVC.
