Last Meeting: 2008, won by ASU in Jonesboro, Ark., 55-47

First Meeting: 1928, at Jonesboro, Ark., won by MSU 56-32
The Murray State Racers try to keep their perfect start to the 2011-12 season going when they host the Arkansas State Red Wolves in a 7 p.m. tip Saturday at the CFSB Center in the first meeting between the two since 2008 and the first on the Racers' home court since 2007.
The Racers are 11-0 after an 89-65 win Thursday over visiting Lipscomb which marked MSU's first game as a ranked team since 1998. Ranked 24th in the Associated Press Poll, MSU scored their first win as a ranked team since 1971 when they had an 18-0 run in the second half to break the game open.
MSU continues to chase history. A win against ASU would give them the best start to a season since the teams from 1936-37 and 1950-51 started 12-0. The 1935-36 team still owns the best start at 16-0.
The Racers enter the game as one of only nine teams in NCAA D-I that haven't lost this season. MSU is the only team from the mid-major ranks that is undefeated.
The Racers have an 11-game home winning streak since their last loss to Eastern Illinois (Jan. 20). MSU has won 14 straight non-conference games since the last loss to Louisiana Tech (Feb. 21, 2009) in a BracketBusters game. The Racers have posted 163 wins and a winning percentage of 85 percent in their 14th season in the building and have never lost three in a row at home during that time.
It's easy to see why the Racers enjoy one of the best home-court edges in all of college basketball. In the last three seasons, MSU is 32-2 at home.
New MSU head coach Steve Prohm is part of 52 first-year head coaches in NCAA D-I. His 11-0 mark is the best among the 24 first-time head coaches. Prohm was named coach (May 23) after Billy Kennedy took the head coaching job at Texas A&M.
Prohm's 11-0 start is the best for a rookie head coach in Racer history ahead of the 9-0 that Tevester Anderson (now at Jackson State) had in 1998.
