Racers Fall 6-1 to No. 12 Kentucky

The Murray State men's tennis team returned to the court for the first time since Feb.13, but fell to No. 12 Kentucky in Lexington, Ky. The Racers are now 1-4 on the season.

The Racers lone win came from freshman Arthur Valle at No. 4 singles. Valle defeated Maks Gold, 7-6 (5-0), 6-3. Valle teamed with senior Luka Milicevic at No. 2 doubles and almost earned a win, but fell 8-6 to Alejandro Gomez and Gold.

“We played a good number two doubles and Arthur Valle played well today,” said head coach Mel Purcell. “We competed ok, but Kentucky has a strong team. It was good to see a freshman play so well, especially on the road.”
MSU next face Southern Illinois, Sunday, March 6 in Carbondale, Ill. The match is scheduled to start at noon.
