Howson delivered rounds of 72-77=149 to grab a spot in 12th place with the final 18 holes scheduled to be played Tuesday morning.
Alli Weaver had a spot in 46th place after scores of 81-77=158, while Morgan Cross was in 58th place after rounds of 82-78=160. Alexandra Lennartsson had scores of 81-80=161, with Caroline Lagerborg earning a spot in 68th place with scores of 81-83=164.
Alexandra Hinteregger is playing the event as individual and recorded scores of 84-82=166 to get a spot in 73rd place.
The Racers, playing with the best field of their 2010-11 season, scored team rounds of 315-312=627 and scored ahead of 14th place Xavier (631) and Miami (FL) (635).
Notre Dame had the lead at 591, while James Madison (603), Michigan (606), Central Florida (609), Maryland (609) and East Tennessee State (609) made up the top-6 teams.
