Results
The Racers rebounded in round two which was started Monday afternoon and finished
Tuesday morning with a 297, an eight-shot improvement over their first round 305. MSU finished ninth in the field of 18 teams at 602.
Cameron Carrico was MSU's top finisher with a spot in sixth place in the field of 93 competitors with rounds of 72-70=142.
MSU's Patrick Newcomb and Hunter Ford shared a spot in 55th place. Newcomb carded scores of 78-76=154, while Ford's scores were 81-73=154. Dustin Gosser placed 59th with scores of 77-78=155, while Hunter York had scores of 78-82=160 and placed 78th.
The Racers finished ahead of 10th place Southern Illinois (603), McNeese State (604) and Houston Baptist (607) and behind host Samford in eighth place at 599.
Central Arkansas was the winner at 562, while Alabama (580), Illinois State (588), Winthrop (591), Belmont (593), Evansville (594) and Eastern Kentucky (598) made up the top seven teams.
The Limestone Springs GC played to a par-72 at 6,987 yards.
MSU's next event is the Grover Page Classic at Jackson CC in Jackson, Tenn., March 14-15.
The Murray State men's golf team was on the final nine holes of their first spring tournament when heavy rain and lightning halted play at the Samford Intercollegiate at Limestone Springs GC in Birmingham, Ala.
