Cameron Carrico Places Second - Racers Seventh At ASU Event

MSU's top player Cameron Carrico continued his excellent play with rounds of 72-65=137 for a spot in second place in the field of 104 players. Carrico has turned in five top-5 finishes in the 2010-11 season including two wins and he leads the Ohio Valley Conference with a 71.1 scoring average.
Hunter Ford and Hunter York shared 30th place. Ford carded scores of 76-70=146, while York had scores of 73-73=146. Patrick Newcomb had scores of 75-72=147 and finished in 44th place, while Dustin Gosser finished in 55th place with scores of 75-74=149.
Tyler Brown played the event as an individual and finished 88th with rounds of 76-80=156.
Arkansas-Little Rock won the event at 566, with Central Arkansas (567), Jacksonville State (571) and Missouri State (572) rounding out the top five.
After the Racers, Oral Roberts (576) took ninth place and the rest of the field included: SIUE (581), Illinois State (587), Southern Illinois, UMKC and Northern Iowa each at 592, UT Martin (602), Austin Peay (602) and Texas-Pan American (618).
The course at RidgePointe CC is playing 6,565 yards and to a par of 72.
The Murray State men's golf squad recorded a seventh place finish at the ASU Red Wolf Intercollegiate at RidgePoint CC in Jonesboro, Ark.
The Racers were 15 shots better in round two with a 280 after an opening 295 for a total of 575 and finished in a tie with Meridian CC just behind Arkansas State and Louisiana-Monroe who tied for fifth at 574.
