The NJCAA Region 16 Player of the Year helped her team to two regional appearances and a national runner-up finish in 2009 for the Grizzlies. As a freshman, she was named the NJCAA Newcomer of the Year. As a sophomore she was named to the NJCAA All-Regional team and was an honorable mention for NJCAA All-American.
“We are extremely excited to have Lia join our program,” said head coach David Schwepker. “We needed someone with great experience and confidence in her ability to run a team and that is what we have found in Lia. She is not a 'rah-rah' type of setter but is a person that just gets the job done. She is very physical and athletic and is able to set with accuracy and consistency. She has not only proven herself on the court but is also an outstanding student and will be successful in everything she does.”
The 5-9 setter was a three-year member of the Haltom High School volleyball squad in Haltom City, Texas. While a prep, she earned two District Setter of the Year honors and was the team MVP for two seasons. Havili is also a standout in the classroom, having been named to the Texas Academic All-State First team as a senior and second team as a junior.
