The Racers won the 2010 championship which was their first since 1991 and fourth overall.
“In the last couple of weeks, we've really made some strides and are starting to peak ,” Hunt said. “When you get to the OVC Tournament anything can happen. We can play with anybody in the league and I think we'll play well.”
The Racers are ranked second in the OVC with a 291.1 scoring average, just behind Jacksonville State at 290.4.
MSU has turned in an outstanding season that includes four event wins: Wasioto Winds Fall Kick-Off (Sep. 14), Murray State Invitational (Oct. 5), Grover Page Classic (March 15) and Big Blue Intercollegiate (April 5).
MSU's Patrick Newcomb won the Wasioto Winds title, while Cameron Carrico posted wins in the Grover Page and Big Blue events. William Hunt was also a winner at the Racers home event, but isn't in MSU's starting five at the OVC Tournament.

The OVC Championship will be held for a second straight season at the GreyStone GC. The par-72 course will play 6,858 yards and have nine teams vying for the title including the Racers, Austin Peay, Eastern Illinois, Eastern Kentucky, Jacksonville State, Morehead State,
Murray State, Tennessee State, Tennessee Tech and UT Martin. The teams had a practice round on Sunday and tee off on Monday morning at 9:30 a.m. after the rain delay is over.
Opened in 1998, GreyStone was designed by PGA Tour pro Mark McCumber and has hosted numerous high profile events including PGA Tour qualifying, Senior PGA Tour qualifying and the Tennessee State Open.
The annual awards banquets will be held following the first round of play where the All-OVC first-team and second-team members as well as All-Newcomer Team and Freshman of the Year will be announced. The OVC Player of the Year, Coach of the Year as well as All-Tournament and Tournament MVP awards will be presented at the conclusion of each championship.

The Murray State Racers will try for a second straight title at the 2011 Ohio Valley Conference men's golf championships starting Monday at GreyStone Golf Club in Dickson, Tenn.
The 54-hole event is Monday through Wednesday, April 25-28.

Scoring Avg: 71.1 (OVC 1st)
Notes: Enters the OVC Championship as the leading scorer in the league at 71.1 (He's in the top-10 nationally in NCAA D-I) and a strong candidate for OVC Player of the Year. Carrico's 4.96 scoring average on par-4 holes, is fourth in the country. He has posted 22 rounds of par or better out of 30 rounds this season and has seven top-10 finishes including two wins, at the Grover Page Classic with scores of 70-71-69 and at the Big Blue Intercollegiate with rounds of 74-76. He had a season-best 65 at the ASU Red Wolf Intercollegiate.

Scoring Avg: 75.9 (25th OVC)
Notes: Has turned in two top-10 finishes with 21 rounds of 75 or better in 30 total rounds. His top finish was a fifth place showing at the Wasioto Winds Fall Kick-Off (Sep. 14) with scores of 75-70-70.
Hunter York (So.) Hardin, Ky.
Scoring Avg: 74.8 (21st OVC)
Notes: A scrappy player who worked his way into the starting five after making the squad during fall qualifying last August. He has two top-10 finishes this season including a fifth place showing at the UTM Skyhawk Classic (Oct. 12) with scores of 72-71-69.
