Track & Field Prepares for Last Meet before OVC Championships
4/28/2011 1:33:17 PM | Women's Track and Field
The meet is a tri-meet, with the Governors, MSU and Tennessee Tech all competing against each other. Austin Peay is one of two OVC squads that the Racers have not seen in any of the other outdoor competitions this season.
The meet has a shortened schedule of events, with MSU participating in 10 events. The Racers will run in the 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500 and 4x400 relay. Team members will also compete in the javelin, pole vault, high jump and shot put. Events will start at 3 p.m. at Governors Stadium.
Heading into the last week of competition before the OVC Championships, the Racers have three team members that have top-3 performances in their events among OVC participants. Seniors Lexie Barr and Josha Rogers and junior Kayla Crusham have all turned in the second-best mark in their events this season. Barr is second in the pole vault, with her school record height of 3.60m (11'9.75”). Rogers is second in the high jump, clearing 1.69m (5'6.5”) and Crusham has turned in the second-best time in the 3,000 Steeplechase (11:24.40).
Rogers will be competing directly against Katherine Lynn from Tennessee Tech, who is first in the high jump in the OVC this season. Lynn cleared 1.70m (5'7”), just a half inch higher than Rogers.
