Kosmecki Named to 2011 All-OVC Tournament Team

Murray State sophomore Shelby Kosmecki was one of 12 players to be named to the 2011 All-OVC Tournament team, the conference announced Sunday.
The Somerset, Ky. native picked up the win for the Racers in their 3-2 opening game victory against UT Martin earlier this week, the first in program history at the OVC Championships. She limited the Skyhawks to a pair of runs in seven innings on six hits and two walks. She recorded the first five outs of the game by strikeout and rang up seven opposing batters in the complete game.
Kosmecki returned a day later to face the same UTM squad in the Racers first elmination game. She threw her second conplete game against the Skyhawks in two days, allowing just two more earned runs as Murray State dropped a 3-2 decision in its final game of the season.
She ends the year as the Racers top starter, compiling an 11-7 record with an earned run average of 4.03 in 25 starts. She led the pitching staff with 102 strikeouts this season, throwing four shutouts and 13 complete games.
