Wade Thompson Signs With Murray State Golf

Murray State Head Men's Golf Coach Eddie Hunt announced the signing of Wade Thompson of Mt. Carmel, Ill.
Thompson will join the Racers' golf program in the fall as a freshman out of Mt. Carmel High School where he had a scoring average of 72.3 as a senior. His team from Mt. Carmel won the Illinois State 1A Tournament title in the fall of 2010 and he finished fourth individually with scores of 71-80=151.
Thompson enjoyed an outstanding prep career that saw him win several titles and record top-5 finishes in his final three years which included his time at Mt. Carmel and various amateur events in the state. His wins include: the 2007 & 2009 Jr. City Championship with scores of 76 and 71, he won the 2008 Elks State Championship with a 75 and he carded a 70 in winning the 2008 Illinois Sectional. Thompson was also the winner of the 2010 Second City Classic with scores of 70-70=140. He won his sectional in 2008 and 2010 with scores of 69 and 70.
He was also an Illinois State Amateur qualifier in 2010.
“I'm excited to add Wade to our team,” MSU Head Coach Eddie Hunt said. “He's played a lot of golf in the last three years and has performed well not only in high school events, but also some of the big events in the state of Illinois.”
