Weaver Ends Run at USGA Public Links Championship

Murray State golfer Alli Weaver ended her stay at the United State Golf Association's Public Links Championship with a second round 83 at Bandon Dunes Resort in Bandon, Ore.
Coupled with her first round 80, Weaver didn't make the top-64 players that advanced to match play.
The experience playing the Old Macdonald and Bandon Trails courses was unlike anything Weaver had experienced in her career. That is playing a true links-style course.
“This was a neat experience and I can always take good things out of it,” Weaver said. “I don't get to play on courses like this and learn how to putt on greens like this. This was my first time playing a true links course and there are many factors you have to deal with. It was definitely something new for me. I couldn't get my putting going today and on a course like this you need it.”
Weaver was glad to have her father, Jim, as her caddy this week in Oregon.
“He has caddied for me before in some of the local events I've played,” Weaver said. “He does a good job and I enjoyed having him on my bag.”
Weaver's next challenge is attempting to qualify for the USGA United States Amateur (July 18) at a qualifier at York Country Club in York, Pa. If she can advance from that site, she will play in the finals at Rhode Island Country Club (Aug. 8-14) in Barrington, R.I.
Weaver, from Lititz, Pa., will be a junior in the fall for the Racers.
