Incoming Racers Pick Up Honors

The eight players joining the Murray State softball team picked up a number of end-of-the-season awards and honors in their final seasons before joining the Racers for the 2012 season.
Of the seven high school seniors and one junior college transfer, five players earned a position on an all-state team in their respective states with three being selected to their region's all-tournament team.
Jordyn Amos - (Columbia, Ill./Columbia): Was named first team all-state at Columbia High School, selected stlouishighschoolsports.com athlete of the week and co-player of the year in class 1A-2A by the Belleville News-Democrat.
Alexa Becker - (St. Rose, Ill./Matter Dei Catholic): An Illinois State Scholar and valedictorian at Matter Dei Catholic, she earned St. Louis Post-Dispatch Scholar Athlete and first team all-metro awards. Was also a second team all-state selection.
Katie Bunch - (Louisville, Ky./Eastern): Was named third team Kentucky all-state and selected to the seventh region all-tournament team in her senior year at Eastern High School.
Casey Castile - (Hopkinsville, Ky./Christian County): Selected first team all-state in Kentucky and was named to the Kentucky East/West all-star team.
CheyAnne Gaskey - (Morgantown, Ky./Butler County): A first team Kentucky all-state selection, she was also named to the Kentucky East/West all-star team and was selected third region player of the year. Selected as bgdailynews.com female athlete of the week.
Mandi Kellerman - (Pinckneyville, Ill./John A. Logan): The 2011 GRAC All-Conference MVP at John A. Logan, she was all-region and all-region tournament team last season. Was chosen as an NJCAA Academic All-American.
Mo Ramsey - (Pinckneyville, Ill./Pinckneyville Community): An Illinois State Scholar and valedictorian at Pinckneyville Community High School, was third team all-state in Illinois, first team all-south, first team all-conference, and was selected to the Illinois Super 60 team.
Mallory Richardson - (Owensboro, Ky./Owensboro Catholic): A Kentucky East/West all-star selection, was named third region all-tournament team and chosen for the Mark O'Brien Spirit of Competition award.
