For the second-straight day, mother nature intervened and forced Murray State to call an audible. The Racers morning practice was washed out and, after a break for lunch, MSU took to the field for their fourth practice just after 1 p.m. at Stewart Stadium.
“I thought that the guys adjusted well,” said head coach Chris Hatcher. “I think we were a little sluggish at times today. Part of that had to do with us laying around in the locker room for four hours this morning waiting on the weather to clear up. We decided to go eat lunch and then came back and caught a break with the weather.”
“It is very difficult to get amped up for practice, go sit around and wait, then come back to the field and practice. All in all, it was a good day. Our execution isn't as crisp as I would like. We expect a lot out of our guys and I think we are making the strides we need to make at this time.”
In an effort to get the players fired up for practice, Hatcher got on the stadium sound system during warm-ups and got the players excited. After coach was finished, the rest of practice was greeted with music being played throughout the stadium.
“I thought that by being in the locker room for so long, I anticipated us being sluggish,” said Hatcher. “I tried to amp up the tempo a little bit with some music, have a little fun out here. We kind of did that just because of the way that the day ended up turning out.”
When asked if the music will continue to be played, Hatcher simply said, “we may do it a few more times throughout the course of camp.”
The Racers return to practice early Sunday morning for their first practice in full pads. Practice is scheduled to begin at 7:15 a.m.
