The Murray State men's golf team opens the 2011-12 season Monday at the Wasioto Winds Fall Kickoff in Pineville, Ky.

Host Morehead State and the Racers will be joined in the 54-hole event by Bellarmine, Eastern Illinois, John A. Logan College, Northern Kentucky, Southern Illinois-Carbondale, Tennessee Tech, UT Martin, Walters State, Trevecca Nazarene , Cumberlands (Ky.), and Pikeville (Ky.).
Play at Wasioto Winds Golf Club calls for 36-holes of play Monday with the final 18 holes on Tuesday. Play each day begins at 8 a.m. central time.
The Wasioto course plays to a par of 72 and 7,037 yards.
The Racers travel to their first event led by a pair of juniors.
Patrick Newcomb (Benton, Ky.) won the Kentucky State Amateur over the summer and finished sixth at the Kentucky Open. Hunter York (Hardin, Ky.) also returns to the MSU starting lineup.
“We had a very competitive few weeks of qualifying,” MSU Head Coach Eddie Hunt said.
“We're all looking forward to getting the season going.”
