Students Invited For Mascot & Public Address Announcer Tryouts
9/22/2011 9:38:00 AM | General
Murray State Athletics will hold open auditions for students wishing to serve as mascots and public address announcers at home events for the rest of the 2011-2012 school year.
The tryouts will be held in Racer Arena, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 27th. Auditions will be granted on a first come first served basis. All candidates must fill out an application before they can tryout.
Those auditioning to be MSU's mascot “Dunker” and “Air Dunker” should come prepared to give a short interview and performance in the both mascot suits. In the interview, applicants will be evaluated on their personality and enthusiasm for serving as a mascot. During the performance, applicants will be asked to dance, move around, jump, utilize props (provided by Racer Athletics), and interact with people. A second interview during the first week of October may be required. Those trying out should wear comfortable clothes and shoes.
Students auditioning to become a public address announcer will be required to read a series of scripts similar to those heard at a Racer athletic event. Applicants will be judged on the clarity and volume with which they read the announcements. The announcers that are selected to serve will be the public address announcers at MSU soccer, volleyball, baseball and softball home events.
All Murray State students from any program of study are invited to try out and experience is not necessary.
For additional information about these auditions, please e-mail msu.athleticmarketing@murraystate.edu or call Elizabeth Costy at 270-809-7048.
