The No. 10 Murray State rifle team dropped its second-straight match over the weekend on Saturday to fourth-ranked Army, losing 4650-4620 in aggregate.
The Racers were led by Bill Harvey's career-high aggregate score of 1162, as well as a career-best in smallbore with a score of 584. Kelsey Emme shot the next highest score for Murray State in the match, shooting a score of 1152.
"Bill did a great job in smallbore, he competed well and finished strong,” said Head Coach Alan Lollar. “We are really excited about his progress."
Emme, Tessa Howald and Kaitlyn Wilson each shot scores of 569 in smallbore for MSU. Caroline Barber led the Racers with a 584 in air rifle. Emme scored a 583, while Howald and Wilson shot scores of 582 and 580, respectively.
I thought our two freshmen, Tessa and Kaitlyn showed some good things this weekend," said Lollar. They were both working hard and have started to show understanding in how to go about shooting college matches."
"They have had to learn how to handle back-to-back matches in smallbore and air rifle. They are becoming consistent, now that they know what to expect they can concentrate on their match plan."
The Racers return to Pat Spurgin Range this upcoming weekend for a meet against OVC foe Jacksonville State and Ole Miss.
"We are looking forward to being at home this weekend, said Lollar. “I hope that a lot of fans can come out and support these kids who have worked extremely hard.”
