Construction Begins On New Softball Field

Construction on the new on-campus softball field officially began this week, giving a permanent home to Murray State softball. The field is being built behind Roy Stewart Stadium on the site of the old football practice field.
"I want to thank Murray-Calloway Parks & Recreation for allowing us to play on their field the past three years,” MSU Director of Athletics Allen Ward said. “Without them, we wouldn't have been able to start softball here at Murray State. But it's been a goal of mine since we began play to have the team playing on campus. It's important for recruiting, visibility and having access to the other athletic venues. We have an exciting team to watch and their new home will give the campus a great opportunity to come out and support our newest program."
Head softball coach Kara Amundson echoed Wards sentiments of thanks and excitement. “Racer Field at Central Park has been a great home for our program over the past few years. However, we are thrilled to be moving on campus and having a place we can finally call our own.”
