Racer Golf Heads To Skyhawk Classic Final Round In Third Place

The Murray State men's golf team had a spot in third place after two rounds of the Skyhawk Classic hosted by UT Martin at Paris Landing State Park in Paris, Tenn. Monday.
The Racers put together scores of 288-286=574 and trailed first place John A. Logan who had a 567 ahead of second place Lipscomb at 572.
Tyler Brown led MSU with a spot in fourth place in the field of 78 players with scores of 70-71=141, while teammate Patrick Newcomb was in 10th place with scores of 72-70=142. Preston French had a spot in 22nd place with rounds of 72-73=145, whule Hunter York was in 30th place with rounds of 74-72=146. Brock Simmons is making his first start for the Racers and was in 66th place with scores of 79-75=154.
Southern Illinois (575), Union (TN) (577), Tennessee Tech (577), Alabama State (578), UT Martin B (578), UT Martin (585) and Tennessee State (586) rounded out the top-10.
Murray State's second team was in 11th place with scores of 295-294=589 with Southern Indiana (599), Jackson State (602) and Bethel (TN) (610) making up the rest of the 14-team field.
MSU's B squad was led by Daniel Harper with a spot in 22nd place with scores of 73-72=145, with Jordan Smith in 34th place with rounds of 73-74=147. Wade Thompson was in 42nd place with rounds of 77-71=148, while Duncan McCormick was in 60th place with scores of 73-79=152. Travis Thompson was in 64th place with scores of 76-77=153.
The Paris Landing Golf Course is playing at a length of 6,685 yards and a par of 72 for the event.
The final round of the event will be played Tuesday.
