Soccer Earns NSCAA Team Academic Award

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced its 2012 Team Academic Award winners last week. The Murray State soccer team was honored by the NSCAA for the sixth consecutive year for its efforts in the classroom.
"It is great to get this award for the sixth-straight year,” said Head Coach Beth Acreman. “We have high standards for our team academically so this is a great reflection of their hard work in the classroom.”
The Racers compiled a team GPA of 3.35 during the 2011-12 academic calendar. The NSCAA annually recognizes college and high school soccer programs that have excelled in the classroom, in addition to their work on the pitch.
“I am very proud of the team and its focus on academics,” said Acreman. “The girls' schedules during the year are tough. Being a true student-athlete means committing to your school work along with your athletic endeavors and having a strong overall team GPA shows they have the balance right. We have great faculty and athletic academic staff at Murray State and this award is also a tribute to their dedication and support."
