Murray State softball lost in its final game of the Hilltopper Spring Classic, dropping a 6-4 decision against Bowling Green Sunday afternoon at the WKU Softball Field in Bowling Green, Ky.
Meghan Sims got the Racers on the scoreboard first, doubling to center field to score Ellyn Troup from second in the bottom of the second inning and take a 1-0 lead.
MSU (4-2) added two more runs in the third as Mo Ramsey reached on an infield single between the BGSU pitcher, shortstop and third baseman. Megan Glosser wheeled around from second, beating the throw at the plate as Ramsey advanced into scoring position. She would come around as Leslie Bridges roped a double into the outfield as the Racers jumped to a 3-0 advantage.
Bowling Green (4-3) grabbed two back in the top of the fourth as Erika Stratton doubled with two outs and two on.
Glosser added a fourth run for Murray State in the bottom of the fourth, fouling out down the line in left field deep enough to score Sims from third to go ahead 4-2.
The Falcons would take the lead for the first and final time in the top half of the fifth inning, piecing together three hits with a walk and an error to score three and go ahead 5-3.
Bowling Green would add one more in the sixth for the final run of the game in the two run MSU loss.
Glosser was one of three Racers to record a pair of hits, along with Bridges and Sims, and added a stolen base to her team-best eight steals this season.
Chelsey Sullivan was saddled with her first loss of the season as she gave up six runs, three earned, on nine hits and a pair of walks while striking out six.
The Racers return to action next Friday, traveling to Knoxville, Tenn., for five games at the Tennessee Classic.
