Racers Hit Road For Revamped Weekend Schedule At Tennessee Classic

With the threat of rain looming this weekend in Knoxville, Tenn., the Tennessee Classic has made a number of scheduling changes.
Murray State's previously scheduled games against East Tennessee State and Middle Tennessee State have now been canceled.
The Racers will face the Dutch National Team in an exhibition game at 2 p.m. Friday afternoon. Saturday, MSU will play Boston University at 9 a.m. in its lone game of the day. It will close out play at Tennessee against the host Lady Vols Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
All games will now be played at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium, and live stats will be available at GoRacers.com.
SCOUTING BOSTON
Boston opened the season this past weekend with a 3-2 showing at the NFCA Leadoff Classic. The Terriers picked up wins against Winthrop, South Florida and Illinois with losses coming against Illinois State and Louisiana-Lafayette.
Megan Volpano paces the BU offense through five games with six hits in 15 at bats (.400) and is tied for the team lead with six RBI. Holli Floetker earned all three wins in the circle for Boston, compiling a 3-1 record in three starts with a 3.00 ERA.
SCOUTING TENNESSEE
The host Lady Vols enter the weekend ranked eighth in the latest ESPN.com/USA Softball poll. Sporting a 10-3 record, UT won four of its last five games at the NFCA Leadoff Classic. After dropping its opening game 2-1 against Winthrop, Tennessee picked up wins against Georgia Tech, Illinois State, Hofstra and Massachussetts.
Tennessee has out-scored its opposition 67-36 this season and is hitting .307 as a team through 13 games. Lauren Gibson has had the hot bat for the Lady Vols through the first couple of weeks, leading the team with 17 RBI, 12 runs and six home runs while batting .405
Ellen Renfroe tops the depth chart in the circle, winning eight of her nine starts this season to post an unblemished 8-0 record. Through 68 innings this season, she sports a 1.34 ERA and has struck out 85 batters while walking just 17.
