USTFCCCA All-America Honorees
After a record setting indoor track & field season, Murray State track & field junior Alexis Love has been named a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Second-Team All-America honoree for the 2012 NCAA Division I Indoor Season.
The Palmetto, Fla., native earned her honor in the 200-Meter Dash after finishing 15th in a time of 23.85 at the 2012 NCAA DI Indoor Championships in Nampa, Idaho. The sprinter set two Racer school records during the indoor season, with a time of 7.42 in the 60 and 23.66 in the 200, and claimed the 2012 Ohio Valley Conference 200-Meter title.
Love is the first MSU track & field athlete to earn All-America honors since 1994 when Heather Samuel earned the distinction in 1994 in the outdoor 100. The last to earn an indoor All-America status was Stephanie Saleem in 1990 in the 400. She is also just the third individual athlete to earn an All-America award for the women's track & field team, with Saleem earning three honors and Samuel one.
The Racers will return to action as a team, March 16-17 when they travel to Conway, S.C., to compete in the first outdoor meet of the 2011-12 season. MSU will be participating in the Shamrock Invitational hosted by Coastal Carolina.
