Newcomb Wins Grover Page Classic

Patrick Newcomb won an individual title and the Murray State men's golf team placed fourth at the Grover Page Classic at Jackson Country Club in Jackson, Tenn.
Newcomb won the event on a scorecard playoff after he posted scores of 71-72-74=217. Newcomb finished in a tie after 54 holes with Jake Erickson of Southern Illinois.
MSU's Hunter York placed 10th in a field of 74 players with scores of 73-75-74=222, while Tyler Brown placed 18th with rounds of 76-75-74=225. Wade Thompson had scores of 78-82-79=239 to finish 50th, while Dustin Gosser placed 57th with scores of 76-86-80=242.
The Racers shared fourth place with Jackson State. MSU had scores of 296-304-301=901. Host UT Martin won the event at 881, just ahead of runner-up SIU at 888 and Tennessee Tech at 890.
MSU's William Hunt played the event as an individual and placed 42nd with scores of 76-76-83=235, with Joe Scholl in 55th place after scores of 78-84=78=240.
The Racers' next event is the Spring Break Invitational(March 23) at the Fountains Country Club in Boca Raton, Fla.
